Scrimmage Vs. St. Joseph, Notre Dame and Union Catholic

The Donovan track team had a good day at the first competition of the outdoor season. Athlete of the meet goes to Pat Loughrey for his 400 IH of 60.8 and his 400 leg on the 4 X 400 of 54.4.

Next meet Weds. April 1, vs. Central and Pinelands at Pinelands. This is our first double dual meet and Central as always will prove to be a tough competitor.

Nick Crosta's 2008 Big East Decathlon win

Nick Crosta, a Monsignor Donovan Alum, competing for Rutgers University, won the Big East Decathlon last spring.
His results were as follows:

Day 1
100 meters - 11.50
Long Jump - 22'7.75"
Shot Put - 35'3" (note : this is a 16 pound shot)
High Jump - 6'10.75"
400 meters - 50.82

Day 2
High Hurdles - 16.01 (Note : Olympic height)
Discus Throw - 116'11" (Note : heavier then the high school discus)
Pole Vault - 13'3.5"
Javelin Throw - 168'9"
1500 meters - 4:46.67 (Note : about a 5:00.0 mile)

Congratulations to Graham Matthews for achieving the high point team total. He finished the winter season with 65.65 team points.

Jayce and Chris make their marks

Congratulations to Jayce Maxwell, running for Rowan, and Chris Medina, running for New Jersey College, for their performances in the NJAC Championships.

Chris finished 2nd in the long jump (22'08.04") and 6th in the 55 meter dash (6.65 trials, 6.67 finals.)

Jayce finished 5th in the 200 meters (22.98) and was on the 5th place 4 X 200 (team time 1:31.96) and 5th place 4 X 400 meter team ( team time 3:31.05)

Lite Training

Coach McCafferty is back from Florida and will be at school after school on Thursday March 5, with Coach Reabold. We will have a easy work out for any one that attends.
